The first medical faculty unites 13 chairs:

1. The chair of Human anatomy
2. The chair of Histology
3. The chair of Pathological anatomy and forensic medicine
4. The chair of Propaedeutics of internal medicine
5. The chair of Faculty therapy and Endocrinology
6. The chair of Hospital therapy №1 and a professional pathology
7. The chair of Hospital therapy №2
8. The chair of General surgery
9. The chair of Chair of Surgery №1
10. The chair of Chair of Surgery №2
11. The chair of Obstetrics and gynecology
12. The chair of Traumatology and orthopedy
13. The chair of Infectious diseases

The main operating body is the faculty Academic council into which structure enter managing the chairs, responsible for the study, leading scientists.

The scientific secretary of council - the candidate of medical sciences, the senior lecturer of chair of hospital therapy.

Each of sections of scientific, medical, educational work is headed by the responsible assistant to the dean.
Students are trained within 6 years on a speciality: 7.110101 - medical business.

On a speciality «Medical business» shots for establishments of practical public health services, including family doctors prepare.

Six-year term of training means development of fundamental disciplines throughout first two years on chairs of medical biology, the general and biological chemistry, normal anatomy, histology, physiology.

The third year is devoted preclinical to the preparation which purpose - to generate knowledge of the general and private pathology, semiotics, diagnostics and main principles of treatment of illnesses of the human.

The pathological anatomy and physiology, propaedeutics of internal and children's illnesses, the general and operative surgery, pharmacology, the general hygiene and others are with that end in view taught.

Since fourth year of studing teaching is conducted mainly on clinical chairs.

The general medical disciplines - therapy, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and also specialised profile - traumatology and orthopedy, dermatology, nervous illnesses, ophthalmology, psychiatry, infectious diseases etc. are studied

The great attention in preparation of the doctor for independent work is directed on development of practical skills which are got during a summer industrial practice: after the second year - on care of patients, after a third year - medical sisterly, after the fourth and fifth courses - medical.

Examination Schedule

There shall be three professional examinations as follows:

First Professional Exam. End of 2nd Semester

Second Professional Exam. End of 5th Semester

Final Professional Exam. End of 9th Semester

In addition, Mid – Semester, End – Semester Examinations and End – posting assessments are held

regularly.

The total weightage to the internal assessment is 50%, both in the theory and practical /clinical

assessment.

Goals and objectives of undergraduate course (MBBS)

At the end of the MBBS course, the learner shall be able to:

1. Diagnose and manage common health problems of the individual and the community appropriate to

his/her position as a member of the health team at primary, secondary and tertiary levels;

2. Be competent to practice preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative medicine in respect to

the commonly encountered health problems;

3. Practice Evidence Based Medicine, appreciating the rationale for different therapeutic modalities

and be familiar with the administration of “essential drugs” and their common side effects;

4. Appreciate the psycho-social, cultural, economic, and environmental factors affecting health, and

develop humane attitude towards the patients/relatives, in discharging one’s professional

responsibilities;

5. Be familiar with the various National Health Programs, and the ways in which they are being

implemented;

6. Acquire basic management skills in the area of materials, financial and human resources;

7. Demonstrate communication skills, both verbal and written to establish effective communication

with the clients (patients, relatives, and general public), health team partners, and scientific community;

8. Practice medical ethics in patient care, service delivery, and research.
